The steelwork is going up at this new house at Monaltrie Avenue in Ballater, giving the first impression of what is going to be an amazing kitchen and living area space. The main contractor is Brudon Joinery, who started work on the house earlier this year and are expected to be complete early in 2019.
The building form is based on the simplicity of traditional domestic vernacular, with flush eaves and simple gable features. The layout in plan takes cognisance of the view and the sun path during the day. The main living areas are contained in a single storey wing attached to the main 1 ½ storey building. The materials of slate, white render and granite are traditional to Ballater.
